Thomas Polimé was born at the Cottica river and grew up at the Tapanahoni river in the interior of Suriname. He went to high school and (teacher collage) in Paramaribo. In 1980 he leaved Suriname and went to live in the Netherlands. On mediation of the Moravian Church. in the Netherlands he studied social studies (work) in Culemborg.
From 1982 to 1983 he started literacy courses in the interior of Suriname. After returning to the Netherlands he started an association for unemployed young maroons, Wooko Makandie, in the Netherlands. Goal of this association was to prepare unemployed young maroons for having more skills to apply for a job. After finishing his study in Culemborg, he went to university in Utrecht, to study Cultural Anthropology. He successfully finished this study and started to work for the “Zeister Zendingsgenootschap” (Moravian church).

After finishing his study, Polimé remained affiliated with the University and he put in to work for Surinamese refugees in French Guiana. There he also took part in an aids prevention project. As a guest curator Polimé provided his services to the Smithsonian Institution and has been involved in the realization of several large Maroon exhibitions in the Rotterdam World museum and the Amsterdam Tropenmuseum. He has also worked as a curator in Cayenne and St Laurent in French Guiana. In St. Laurent Thomas Polimé is preparing for an exhibition on refugees.

Culture- and nature travel
We organize cultural traveling to Suriname and French Guiana. Where the experience and get to know the local culture and nature are a theme of our travels. In addition, people have the opportunity to get in touch with the local inhabitants.
The maximum group size is 14 people. We travel by plane, local we travel by bus and boat (wooden canoes & piaka) Usually we stay in ‘ middle class ‘ hotels and guest houses, but in some places the sleeping facilities are more basic (you will for example, sleep in hammocks).
